What got you started working in your current line of profession?

I was initially from the hospitality team as a Centre Manager as I actually have more experience in customer service than sales. I was transferred to the Sales team as there was an urgent need for another Sales Manager and I do have track records of renewals as well. So, I suppose I was chosen because of my potential to close deals.

I then slowly began to learn more about sales tactics, etiquette, the processes and also how to work with different people. So far, I have found it to be rather fruitful and one of the greatest lessons I have learnt from my seniors is to sell an experience instead of a product. I quickly adopted this sales philosophy with my experience as a Centre Manager and I started to see more deals closed than before.

Tell us something surprising about you.

Hmmm… Is myself being a regular donor to NGOs a surprising fact? Haha!

I always see that I’m more fortunate than a ton of other people out there. I have a home, family, a career and my own kids. I’m aware that there are many who still find it so difficult to even have a home or family and with a little bit of financial help, they might be able to benefit a lot from just a simple initiative. So, I’ve always strived to help out in this way as much as I can to make the world a happier place.

What are your favourite pastimes off work?

As a mother of 2 daughters, I spend most of my time with my super active 3-year-old toddler and a very curious 1-year-old baby. I really cherish the time and process of watching them grow up even though it could be challenging at times. To me, these are priceless moments. Time passes really quickly and in a blink of an eye, I will not get to see them in such a cuddly and innocent form anymore. So, It’s necessary to appreciate the present as much as possible like how the present is a present like a gift.

But no matter how preoccupied I am, I will still do my best to cater some time for exercising. Even basic workouts or stretching exercises are sufficient to help me maintain my focus and prevent me from falling sick.

Is there a quote in life that greatly impacts you?

Yes, there are two in fact.

The first one is Doing what you like is freedom, liking what you do is happiness.

Personally, I believe in living my life to the fullest. So, a huge part of my own mantra is to always be positive and enjoy whatever I am doing as much as possible. But of course, life isn’t perfect as there is always ups and downs. Hence, whenever I feel stressed, I will just tell myself to take a step back and clear my mind by simply doing nothing for a moment. It works for me and probably this is why some of my friends ask me why I’m so calm all the time. Haha! My response to that has always been the same which is to recommend them to try what I did whenever they are stressed or tired.

The second one is actually Happy go lucky.

I think it is a very important phrase to remind ourselves that everyone has their limitations and every event happens for a reason. It is all cause and effect and at times, we just cannot have control over it. So, I believe the best way to overcome any setbacks is to start by looking forward and slowly let go of them. In fact, no matter whether it is a good or bad experience, there is something to learn from it. Each experience is a valuable lesson in life that we have to be thankful for.

What is your favourite part of your job in Arcc Spaces.

There is so much that I like about it to the point that it’s hard to determine which part of it is my favourite. Haha!

Ok, I guess if I were to really pinpoint and choose, I believe it should be the networking part of the job. Like many salespeople, I also believe in networking and I do enjoy the process as well. The transfer from the hospitality team to the sales team allowed me to leverage my existing network which I have already established during my previous work experience in the hospitality industry. Of course, I will now have the opportunity to further expand it as well when I meet prospects or hold a discussion with agents to present an ideal office/space solution.

The process of dealing with a prospect is also pretty fun and meaningful I should say. Though at times it could pose a challenge but when done right, both the prospect and myself will tend to exchange industry insights which I really appreciate.

At the end of the day, I won’t be able to experience and learn so much from the job If I did not have the support of a loving and caring team behind my back. I’m really thankful to be working with them.
